(KSL News) -- The National Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released the latest crash test results.
The Institute ranked three small cars and three mini-vans based on how well they protect passengers in front and side crashes.
The 2006 KIA Sedona tops the list of minivans earning a "good" rating in both crash tests.
The Subaru Impreza was the best performing small car. It also earned a "Good" rating and like the Sedona earned the group's "top safety pick" award.
For the first time, the institute tested a hybrid vehicle giving the Toyota Prius with optional side airbags a "good" rating in both tests.
