SALT LAKE CITY — The familiar brown layer over the horizon is a familiar — and unwelcome — sight to locals looking to get out.
Moderate air quality means it's still safe for sensitive people to head outdoors, but it may slow them down a little.
"I'm a pretty active pretty fit kind of gal and I went and did 60 miles on my bike today and noticed I'm having a hard time breathing, coughing," said a bicyclist.
Fires across Utah — Pinyon, Faust, Atchinson and West Mountain — have contributed to the lower air quality. The Utah Air Quality Board is looking at ways to reduce fine particulate pollution overall, though. They hope to have a plan drafted by next month.
