SALT LAKE CITY — No sport is free from injuries. And unfortunately, a sport like pole vaulting seems like injuries would be common.

I've always looked at pole vaulting as a very dangerous, but intriguing sport. Think about it: let's run as fast as we can and launch ourselves in the air with a pole inserted into the ground to give us leverage. And if that's not enough of a thrill for the average athlete, let's step things up a notch and add a ridiculously high bar that you have to clear while doing it.

Obviously the launching oneself into the air was just too easy. Adding an ever-increasing pole height makes complete sense. It's almost as ingenious as seeing how far a cannonball-like object can be thrown after spinning in a circle.

Anyone who has watched this sporting event has surely thought the same thing: what if the pole breaks? Surely the people who designed this event have made it safe, right? As if falling from 15 feet in the air is safe. But I digress.

Cuban pole vaulter Lazaro Borges was attempting this ridiculous feat, when his pole snapped on his way up. Fortunately for Borges, he still landed on the mat, saving himself from a serious injury.

McKayla Maroney and the Dougie

With the individual gymnastics portion of the Olympics over, the women's gymnastics team took to the city of London on a double-decker bus with Jenna Bush, the daughter of former United States President George W. Bush.

Bush was with the gymnastics team as part of a project for the Today Show. And what else do you do on a double-decker bus in London with the daughter of a former president? The Dougie, of course.

In the video on YouTube, McKayla Maroney is seen teaching Bush how to Dougie. It's good to see the girls enjoying their trip to London after an intense week of competition.

Tebow and the Jets

It's no surprise Tim Tebow attracts a lot of attention. Fans of football followed him through his years at Florida and on to his come-from-behind wins with the Denver Broncos. There was also that gesture on the field that caught the nation by storm — the Tebow.

With pre-season games soon upon us, the Jets were putting in some practice sessions to get ready for the upcoming season. That's where one fan asked for Tebow to call, using a poster board to get his attention. However, the scene was an unusual sight to see as a man was the one holding the poster board. Maybe the guy wanted Tebow to call him so they could play some Madden.

Kyle Smith of The Score summed it up best with a YouTube video of Kirk Van Houten of the Simpsons, singing, "Can I Borrow A Feeling."
