(KSL News) -- Headache sufferers may not be looking in the right place for treatment. Many assume that their severe headaches are migraines; however, it could be cluster headaches, lightning bolt-like attacks that come suddenly in groups and then go away for weeks or months at at time.
Dr. Veeraindar Goli, Pain specialist: "That means it happens everry day, two to three times a day for four to six or four to eight weeks."
Triggers for the attacks include smoking, alcohol and even relaxation.
The best way to figure out what type of headaches you have, is to keep a journal of your headaches. A doctor can look at the journal and prescribe medications for the illness.
Cluster headaches are more rare -- for ever 100,000 headache sufferers, about 70 of those have cluster headaches.
