Democratic State Senator Gene Davis says making false claims is in vogue with divorcees trying to gain custody. He wants to help offset the abuse of abuse laws. So he wants records for unsubstantiated suspects expunged after five years.
The Division of Child and Family Services has a problem with this and says it will hurt efforts to track patterns of abuse.
Last year only 41 percent of child abuse and neglect cases were substantiated in Utah.
