Harris scores 16 in Weber St. 78-71 win over Utah St.

OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Dezmon Harris scored 16 and Arturas Vakeika added 15 points and 12 rebounds as Weber State defeated Utah State 78-71 Saturday night.

The Wildcats, who were playing their season opener, trailed by one with six minutes remaining when Harris started a run with four straight points and Weber State led the rest of the way.

Utah State kept Weber State from pulling away, but the Wildcats clinched it with six free throws in the final 35 seconds.

Gary Wilkinson led Utah State (1-1) with 21 points. Jaycee Carroll added 14 points and Stephen DuCharme scored 13 for the Aggies, who led 51-45 with 11:24 remaining in the game but couldn't keep the lead on the road.

Steve Panos scored 13 for Weber State.

Daviin Davis' 3-pointer gave WSU its biggest lead of the game, a 24-15 advantage with 9:05 remaining in the first half, however the Aggies answered with an 8-0 run capped off by two straight baskets from DuCharme.

The Aggies eventually took a 30-29 lead a few minutes later on a basket from DuCharme and led 37-33 at halftime.
