OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Cameron Higgins threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns as Weber State defeated Division II Fort Lewis 48-3 on Saturday.

Higgins completed 14 of 22 passes for the Wildcats (5-5, 4-3 Big Sky Conference) while Trevyn Smith ran for 186 yards and a touchdown for WSU's third straight win and fifth in its last six contests.

Fort Lewis (1-9, 1-7 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) had difficulty stopping the Wildcats and made little offensive headway as the Skyhawks finished with 11 total offensive yards from 53 plays.

Fort Lewis quarterback Dave Nieman completed 4 of 13 passes for just 13 yards and was sacked six times before being replaced in the fourth quarter by Sean Cunningham.

Tim Toone caught two touchdown passes from Higgins, on receptions of 34 and 41 yards, while Mike Phillips was on the receiving end of a 20-yard scoring pass from Higgins. Adrian Conway also added a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

WSU's special teams reached the end zone as Bryant Eteuati returned a punt 58 yards for a touchdown.

Ryan Ames kicked a 36-yard field goal for the Skyhawks with less than a second remaining in the first half for their lone score. Ames' kick immediately followed Sam Powell's 45-yard interception return to WSU's 19-yard line and cut WSU's lead to 17-3 at halftime.
