SALT LAKE CITY — Imagine being out on a late night run, you're attacked for your money, belongings, or worse. All you have with you is your keys, and your smart phone. How do you protect yourself? A new company suggests using your iPhone to give your assailant the shock of their life.

The Yellow Jacket is a stun gun, battery pack and case for the iPhone with the capability of producing 650,000 volts of "loud, painful and disorienting" electricity, according to Seth Froom the co-founder of the company. As an added bonus, the external battery can supply over 20 extra hours of battery life for your iPhone 4 or 4S.
Froom, a United States Army Reservist from Baton Rouge, La., was inspired to create the Yellow Jacket after he was attacked and robbed at gun point in his home.
The product is not yet for sale, but needs some extra funding for it to go from prototype to retail. Indiegogo.com is helping the prototype come to life by serving as a host for their donations, which will be accepted until July 31. Certain levels of donations earn donors "perks." For example, $100 earns you your very own Yellow Jacket, once it's ready to ship. The goal of raising $100,000 has only been a quarter of the way achieved.
The case is due to retail in September and will cost $125.
