SMITHFIELD — An unoccupied house was completely destroyed after it caught fire Friday.

Smithfield Fire Department received a call about the fire around 11:30 a.m., and they, along with North Logan and Logan fire departments responded to the fire. Upon arrival, they saw the house was already fully involved, and called in two other departments.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire around 1 p.m. The house was a total loss, and the fire caused about $40,000 and $20,000 of damages to the homes on the east and west sides of the house, respectively.

The house, Smithfield Police say, is believed to have been under remodeling construction for several years, and was unoccupied. Nobody was injured.

Investigators are on-scene determining the cause of the fire.

More information will be reported as made available.
