SALT LAKE CITY — Law enforcement members from across the country are expected to pay their respects to a Utah Highway Patrol trooper who died during a search and rescue accident.
Funeral services for Aaron R. Beesley of Bear River City are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Northridge High School in Layton, and the funeral procession will take place afterward to the West Point Cemetery, for the internment.
To honor Beesley, Governor Gary Herbert ordered that all state agencies fly American flags at half staff Saturday.
"I am deeply grieved to hear of Trooper Aaron Beesley's tragic passing," Herbert said. "Aaron's dedication and bravery as a member of the Utah Highway Patrol, serving as a tactical flight officer, is significantly appreciated."
The procession is expected to interrupt traffic in Layton, Clearfield and West Point between 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday. The procession will begin at the high school at 2430 N. Hill Field Road in Layton, head north on 400 West, turn left onto 3000 N, continue on 700 South, then it will turn right onto State St, will continue onto Main Street, and turn left on 400 West.
Beesley leaves behind a wife and three young sons.
