PROVO, Utah (AP) - Utah County residents are being asked to conserve water after a dry winter.
Provo's Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/OSc6qS ) many cities in the county are considering restrictions as water levels drop quickly.
According to the Central Utah Water Conservancy District, the average homeowner uses 60 percent of their water to irrigate lawns and gardens.

Among other steps, residents are urged to avoid watering during the heat of day or windy times in an effort to reduce water loss to evaporation.
In Saratoga Springs, the city shut off outdoor residential watering systems in portions of the city on June 4 after water tanks were being drained at an alarming rate.
In Lehi, Water Superintendent Lee Barnes says he wants people to be aware that the water situation is serious.
