Randall Jeppesen Reporting Herriman is getting ready to become a much bigger city now that some Bluffdale land owners have won a court battle allowing them to switch cities.
This week, city leaders voted to annex 4,000 acres into town, and now Assistant City Manager Brett Wood has his hands full putting together a master plan. "Fire stations, then how many more police officers we're going to have to add, everything," he said.
Wood, along with City Councilwoman Raquel Deluca, says it's a challenge they're glad to have. It gives them more room to grow. "It's an opportunity to sustain our commercial development and our tax base," Deluca said.
Parks, trials, water pipes, and preserving space for the new Mountain View Corridor and future TRAX lines all are part of the project.
