Nicole Gonzales ReportingWest Jordan police arrested a teen suspected of stabbing one of his own gang members last night.

The stabbing happened near 1500 West and 6900 South.

West Jordan police have confirmed the teen will most likely face charges, but they haven't said what the specific charges will be.

A little after 8:00 last night, a half dozen teens affiliated with the Surenos 13 gang were reported fighting. Police say the suspect and the victim were rivals within Surenos 13.

West Jordan Police Lt. Dean Waters said, "They're all fellow gang members, members of the same gang, so we're not sure why the fight started or how it started."

Teen Arrested in Connection with Gang Stabbing

Surenos 13 is the largest gang in Utah and mostly concentrated in the Salt Lake Valley. Well over 1,000 people belong to the gang. Surenos 13 is mostly a Hispanic gang, but other races are involved as well.

The victim in this stabbing was in critical condition last night after surgery and is expected to live. There have been no updates since then on his official condition.
