(KSL News) The chief deputy of the Grand County Sheriff's Office has been cleared of wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a Moab man last month.
Chief Deputy Curt Brewer shot and killed James Gaylord at the Grand Oasis mobile home park after responding to a call about a suicidal person.
An investigation found Brewer did have reason to fear for his life, as Gaylord was carrying a rifle and a handgun and refused to drop the weapons.
Brewer was placed on 10 days leave after the shooting. He is now back on the job.
