SALT LAKE CITY — The Nortons visit the Primary Children's Hospital a lot.
Their son, 22-month-old Paxton, has had 19 surgeries in his short life, and by his mother's estimate, between 40 and 50 visits to the operating room for smaller procedures.
Paxton's mother, Shannon Norton, spends most of her time caring for her son. He has a deletion on the seventh chromosome that affects every cell of his body. Because of that, he breathes through a trachea, eats only through a feeding tube and is hearing impaired, among a list of other complications.
Primary Children's Hospital and KSL are joining forces for the annual "Giving Hope" campaign, and aim to raise $200,000 for the hospital this year. Rather than the 28-year- tradition telethon, donations can be contributed online.
