SALT LAKE CITY — Monday night Dallas Mavericks guard Delonte West gave Gordon Hayward a ‘wet willy'. Now it hasn't been confirmed it was a ‘WET' willy, but for the sake of argument, let's say it was.

That bizarre episode got me thinking. To whom would I like to give a ‘wet willy?' Hmm ...

One group that I would love to give a ‘wet willy' to would be the NBA. The upper brass and the officials have taken away the physical and emotional play from the players. The players can't show emotion or commit a hard foul during a lay-up without getting a technical and having money taken away from their pocket book.

Remember back in the day when the Celtics and Lakers would get after each other in the NBA Finals and no player who went to the rim was left unscathed? Those were the days! Remember when the Jazz and the Rockets hooked up in the playoffs in thwe 90's and Houston always complained the Jazz were too physical, even dirty? Yes, those were the days!

Play that brand of basketball now and you would be issued a flagrant one, two, three, four, five or whatever number they go to now.

The players will patrol themselves. They did in the past, and they can do it again, if only the NBA would allow them. But since the NBA is determined to take away emotion and physicality from the players, it deserves a ‘wet willy' from me.

I asked Tom Kirkland to whom would he like to give a ‘wet willy.' His answer? Denver Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas for kicking Tim Tebow out the door after Tebow threw the only pass that Thomas will be remembered for with the game winning touchdown pass in overtime to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wildcard game in January.

Now the question is, who would you give a ‘wet willy' to? Your comments are welcome.

P.S. If you say you want to give a ‘wet willy' to me, you are going to have to stand in line. It is a long line.
