(KSL News) Legislators are considering changes to the state's high school exit exam.
Currently students have up to five chances to pass the Utah Basic Skills Competency Test. Students who do not pass the test are given a diploma stating so.
However, some lawmakers say the students should be given a certificate instead of a diploma because they technically did not pass high school.
The bill also allows for students to get their diplomas later if they retake the test once out of school.
The plan would make exceptions for students with disabilities.
