SALT LAKE CITY -- A man shot Friday night is expected to recover from his injuries.

The man was shot in the abdomen around 10 p.m. in a 7-11 parking lot on 500 North and Redwood Road and left in poor condition.

According to police, the victim's car was parked next to a white Dodge Caravan when an argument started between drivers. A passenger in the Caravan pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.

A pair of police officers who were in the area on another call heard the gunfire and saw the van speed away from the convenience store. They alerted other officers, who set up a confinement area.

The suspects drove the van a short distance from 7-11 before stopping to steal a Ford Bronco. The owner of the vehicle who was nearby, saw their attempts and confronted them, which led to a fight. They overpowered the driver and stole the vehicle, only to dump the Bronco a few blocks later. They fled to a nearby apartment complex, where they entered an apartment. Police located the suspects in the apartment and apprehended them.

Investigation is currently ongoing.
