CENTERVILLE — A flat tire along I-15 triggered a multi-car accident and shut down all northbound lanes near Centerville Tuesday night.

The Utah Highway Patrol says a northbound van got a flat tire around 10:30 p.m. A car traveling with the van also pulled over.

Drivers behind them apparently didn't see the stopped vehicles. A truck hit the back end of the stopped car and rolled, then another vehicle crashed and caught on fire.

One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. UHP trooper Jason Sills says it could have been much worse.

"I am actually quite surprised. From what I saw - I actually saw it - it looked like it hit pretty hard," he said.

Troopers issued two citations, one to the driver of the van and one to another vehicle involved in the crash.

The wreck closed the northbound lanes of the freeway for about 30 minutes.
