(KSL News) Police are looking for a man who tried to rob a Salt Lake jewelry store.

Around 4:00 Sunday afternoon the man walked into a store near 800 West and 600 South, sprayed lighter fluid on the owner then threatened to light him on fire if he didn't hand over money and jewelry.

The owner picked up a chair and threatened to beat the would-be robber. The man left the building without anything, including a backpack he left behind.

Police are now looking for a blue Dodge van with license plate 976 PLR.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
