SALT LAKE CITY — Thousands of Utah "Hunger Games" movie fans led Megaplex Theatres to six of the top 20 spots of the national box office figures for the midnight premiere attendance. The Megaplex Theatres finished first and second in the nation among the 10,000 movie screens at 4,150 complexes that showed the film at midnight on March 22.

Megaplex Theatres, founded by local businessman Larry. H. Miller, are among the most popular theatres in Utah, and among the top grossing theatres in the nation- as evidenced by the astounding turnout for the "Hunger Games" premiere.

"We are delighted that two out of three Utahns who saw 'Hunger Games' this weekend chose to see it at a Megaplex Theatres location," said Blake Andersen, senior vice president of Megaplex Theatres. "We're looking forward to our new location at Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City later this year to offer more options for movie fans in that part of the state."

The theatre draws movie goers with their wide amenities including regular and large-format movie screens, café and dinner-with-a-movie options, conference and auditorium rentals and an industry-leading guest services team.

Megaplex Theatres' recent expansion of several additional auditoriums at Thanksgiving Point meant the company was also able to claim the top theatre complex in Utah County as well as Salt Lake, Weber, and Davis counties.
