GRANTSVILLE — A pair of ATV accidents in Tooelle County sent three people to hospitals Saturday night.

A mother, 27, and her 7-year-old daughter were riding an ATV at Grantsville Reservoir when they overturned on a paved area. Tooele County Sheriff's Dep. Nathan Collins said both riders sustained head injuries but the severity of their injuries was not available.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation Saturday night. Collins said it was unknown if alcohol was a factor.

In a separate incident at the Knolls sand dune area about 30 miles east of Wendover, a woman in her 20s was riding on the back of a motorcycle next to an ATV. The motorcycle veered into the ATV pinning the woman's leg between the machinery of the two vehicles and resulting in a severe break. The motorcycle's driver was thrown from the vehicle but was not injured.

All three injured riders were transported by helicopter to area hospitals.
