Mary Richards and Tom Callan Reporting There's another nationwide food scare due to salmonella contamination. This time it involves a number of frozen pot pies.
Banquet pot pies are still on the shelves at the Wal-Mart at Jordan Landing and at other grocery stores. There's no recall yet, but the company says the pot pies may be linked to hundreds of cases of salmonella in 30 states.
The pies in question are marked with a "P-9" on the side package.
Utahn Sherry Curtis and her husband recently ate three of the pies, and now they fill sick. "He got so sick he went and laid down and slept for about four or five hours. I just have had a belly-ache," Sherry explained.
She says they pulled the wrappers out of the trash as soon as they heard about the recall. Sure enough, the pies were marked "P-9."
ConAgra spokeswoman Stephanie Child says if people have them in their freezer, they should return them. "They should not consume it. If they don't wish to hold the product until further information is available regarding the safety of the product, they may return it to stores for a full refund," she explained.
