SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly stealing a police officer's vehicle.

Todd Hill, 35, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail after he was stopped driving in a stolen police vehicle on 300 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City Police Lt. Brian Purvis said.

Purvis said the officer had stopped between 200 South and 300 South on 300 West to talk with some pedestrians who were drinking on the sidewalk. While he was speaking to the pedestrians, another individual came up from behind, entered the vehicle and drove off.

Another officer arrived shortly after and pursued the vehicle. Purvis said that the driver of the stolen vehicle was otherwise obeying traffic laws, stopping at red lights and signaling. He drove approximately four blocks before be was stopped by the second officer.
