ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- The St. George City Council has approved the purchase of 86 more acres of land for a new airport.
The city still needs 772 more acres for the airport, which is scheduled to open in 2011.
Airport officials say the city is negotiating with property owners to buy the rest of the land. Construction is expected to begin next spring.
The new airport will be about six miles southeast of the current airport.
