ROY — The body unearthed from a Roy backyard last week has been identified as Victor Flores of southern California.
Flores' body was located on Feb. 9 in the backyard of a home at 3812 W. 4550 South. Layton police had spent the previous three and a half days digging after a tip led them to the yard.
Investigators say it appears Flores was stabbed to death, but no murder charges have been filed yet. So far, police say only one of Flores' associates has been arrested.
"The arrest of Sarah Munn has been strictly (based) on her lack of assistance in areas where she had great ability to assist us," said Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham.
At one time, Munn rented the home where Flores' body was found, though Whinham doesn't know their association yet.
Flores disappeared from Layton in May, but Utah law mandates that Roy must lead the investigation now because that's where Flores was discovered.
"Layton has done a tremendous job in following this case as a missing person case from May of 2011 to the discovery of an individual," Whinham said.
Layton Police had conducted the dig, and Whinham said his department looks forward to working with Layton officers as the investigation continues.
