(KSL News) Some Salt Lake children took their pets to school today at Our Lady of Lourdes to have the animals blessed.

Father Flegge conducted the blessings in front of the school where he instructed the students to be kind to animals and treat them with respect.

After offering a prayer on behalf of animals he sprinkled each pet with holy water.

The blessing is in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
