PARK CITY — Officials do not believe the Sunday death of a 19-year-old University of Utah student had anything to do with equipment at the Canyons Ski Resort.
"The Canyons' equipment did not malfunction and was functioning properly at the time," Summit County sheriff's detective Ron Bridge said Monday.
Resort officials reported that the woman was on the High Meadow chair lift when she fell around 11:50 a.m. Sunday. The ski patrol responded quickly and the woman received care on a medical helicopter en route to a hospital, but the woman was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Asha Davenport, 19, died after suffering a seizure on the lift and falling to the ground 30 feet below, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office. Detective Ron Bridge said Monday that the fatal accident was not the result of any equipment malfunction.
The High Meadow lift is a ski slope used by beginners. The lift is as low as 15 feet off the ground to as high as 50 to 75 feet.
When asked if the woman was using a safety bar on the lift, Bridge said: "Our investigation is ongoing and … it appears everything was being used properly."
