FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) -- The Utah Department of Transportation is preparing for a major upgrade on Interstate 15 in Davis and Weber counties.
I-15 will be widened by one lane in each direction on a seven-mile stretch between Layton and Farmington. Construction starts next spring.
UDOT officials say the project is on the critical needs list. It will also mean major traffic backups during the construction. The project is expected to run through next October.
I-15 is also getting wider between north Roy and Pleasant View. That project is about halfway done and also is scheduled to be finished next fall.
