Sam Penrod ReportingDrivers traveling I-15 through Utah County should expect delays this weekend, that's because construction will mean lane restrictions on both Saturday and Sunday.

It is all part of the project to add an extra lane in each direction. With spring weather here, UDOT is speeding up its work, trying to get the project finished ahead of schedule.

Work is getting closer to being finished on the project. All of the bridge expansion is almost finished and now crews are getting ready to start paving the bridge areas. But because it is still too cool to pave at night, it has to be done during the daytime, and UDOT has decided to do the work on weekends, when traffic volume is lower than during the week.

All this work will mean the car pool lane will be open, likely sometime in early June.

Geoff Dupaix, UDOT: "We're in the home stretch of this project and there is still some bridge work that has to be done. But now that we are in warmer time of the year, and hopefully with not as much moisture, we can get this paving work complete and get this project and these lanes opened up ahead of schedule."

On Saturday between 7am and 2pm, lane restrictions will be in place between American Fork's Main Street and 500 East in both directions.

On Sunday, the restrictions will be between Lindon and 400 South in Orem, from 7am to 4pm.

There will also be some night work in the coming weeks, most of that will be between 11pm and 7 am.
