HERRIMAN CITY, Utah (AP) -- The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department wants your drugs.

The county is expanding its drug disposal program to Herriman City. Residents who have prescription drugs or over-the-counter medication they want to get rid of can drop them off at the Sheriff's substation in Herriman.

The medications will be removed from the locked drop box by deputies, who will incinerate them material.

The Herriman system is designed after a similar program in Salt Lake City.

Authorities say safe disposal ensures water quality and keeps the drugs from getting into the wrong hands.
