LOGAN — The former director of the Hispanic Center of Cache Valley has been arrested for investigation of new charges of sex abuse, just two months after being released from jail on a prior sex abuse conviction.

Leo Bravo was arrested Tuesday for investigation of five counts of rape, five counts of object rape, five counts of sodomy and one count of forcible sex abuse.

The victim was a juvenile at the time of the alleged crime that happened about 10 years ago, said Logan Police Chief Gary Jensen. He did not know Wednesday why the victim, who lives out of state, decided to come forward now.

Bravo was released from the Cache County Jail in October after serving two years for his conviction on two amended counts of attempted forcible sexual abuse. He was arrested, and later convicted, of inappropriately touching a woman who had gone to the center for help.

In the latest case, Jensen said the victim also had ties to the center. Logan police learned in October that a second victim might be coming forward. Jensen said as of Wednesday, those were the only two women they knew of who had come forward with allegations.

Bravo resigned as director shortly before he was charged in 2009.
