SALT LAKE CITY — Consumer prices along the Wasatch Front declined slightly in November.
The Zions Bank Wasatch Front Consumer Price Index was down 0.1 percent — the first time in four months that the cost of living for Wasatch Front residents has fallen.
Driving the slight decrease were small declines in transportation and housing prices. Together, the two categories account for approximately 54 percent of a typical Utahn's income, the report stated.
The national consumer price index, which is an aggregation of all prices throughout the U.S., also decreased 0.1 percent.
The Zions Bank report indicated that prices along the Wasatch Front have increased 3.5 percent over the past 12 months, which is in line with the national inflation rate of 3.4 percent over the same period.
