(KSL News) -- Over a thousand people are asking the University of Utah to cancel a keynote address by Larry H. Miller.
About 1,400 people have signed an online petition asking the university to rescind the invitation and to issue a formal apology to the community.
Some petitioners told the Salt Lake Tribune they can not believe the "U" leaders picked Miller to speak at the school. They say he doesn't represent diversity and public debate, which is what higher education is about.
In January, Miller pulled the gay romance movie "Brokeback Mountain" from his theaters.
