(KSL News) A public hearing will be held next week about the Crandall Canyon mine disaster.

On Tuesday, members of the Utah Mine Safety Commission will meet at Huntington Elementary School to hear from members of the community. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m.

Those interested also can send written comments if they are not able to travel to Huntington.

Written comments may be e-mailed to: minesafetycommission@utah.gov or sent by letter to John Baza, Executive Secretary, Utah Mine Safety Commission, 1594 W. North Temple, Suite 1210, PO Box 145801, Salt Lake City, 84114.

The commission was formed by Gov. Huntsman following the August collapses of the Crandall Canyon mine that claimed the lives of nine men.
