SALT LAKE CITY — A 35-year-old Taylorsville man was charged with felony assault Monday after authorities say he choked his girlfriend until she lost consciousness.
The live-in girlfriend of Justin Sandoval told police the man began assaulting her in a Nov. 8 attack at their Taylorsville home. She heard something in her neck snap and passed out as he strangled her, according to the charges filed Monday in 3rd District Court.
Sandoval, whose 11-year-old nephew was in the home at time, was charged with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. The boy told officers he could hear the woman screaming for help.
