(KSL News) The Salt Lake Valley Health Department confirmed today a Utahn has died of the West Nile Virus. It's the first such death this year.
Health workers say the victim lived in Salt Lake County and was over the age of 65.
Officials say our warm, dry weather prolonged the West Nile season.
Mosquito abatement districts throughout the state tell Eyewitness News the concentration of mosquitoes infected with West Nile is high.
