SALT LAKE CITY - Utah got its first Pac-12 victory against Oregon State in a blackout game. The Utes’ won 27-8. Here is a look at some of the games top performers.

John WhiteIV

John White had a stellar night. White rushed for over 150 yards in the first half. He had good holes provided for him by his line but he also made big plays on his own. He did not allow the Beaver defense to tackle him. White repeatedly made the defenders miss allowing him to get huge yards and dictate the success of the offense. White finished the game with 205 yards on 35 carries and one touchdown.

White’s success allowed the rest of the offense the opportunity to make plays. White was able to set up the play action threat. He made the Beavers load the box giving Hays the ability to make easy throws and find open receivers.

Utah Receivers

Dres Anderson and DeVonte Christopher both had great catches in the end zone. Both Anderson and Christopher were in tight coverage but both fought through the defenders to come down with fantastic touchdown catches. Both the passes came on play action calls. Anderson caught a 35-yard touchdown pass while Christopher caught a 3 yard touchdown.

Johnny Hekker, OSU Punter

Johnny Hekker was called on several times through out the game. At times the game turned into a battle for field possession and Hekker did a good job at pinning the Utes’ in their own territory. Hekker played error free and did what he was called on to do.

Jon Hays

Hays did exactly what he was supposed to do; he played error free and gave White the ball. Hays made good throws but more importantly he made good decisions. He manged the game well and the Utes' walked away wiht a win. Hays was only 6-14 for 62 yards, but he did throw two touchdowns and had zero interceptions.

Utah Defense

The Ute defense look great against the Beavers. The Beavers did not get on the scoreboard until the beginning of the fourth quarter. The defense then came up with a huge stop on the goal line to stop another Beaver touchdown. When the offense suffered a safety and had to punt it away the defense once again stepped up with some huge sacks and forced the Beavers to punt. The defense definitely proved how good they are if they are not expected to spend 40 minutes on the field.
