(KSL News) -- Well, they weren't on stage with the well-known TV stars, but some B-Y-U students were still excited to win two Emmy Awards today.
This is the third year in the row that BYU's Animation Program has won a student Emmy-- it's picked up a total of 5 since the program was formed in 2001.
The winners were honored in Los Angeles at the College Television Awards Gala.
This year's two awards went to the films "Noggin"--produced by the senior class, and "Turtles", by the junior class.
Hundreds of thousands of student hours are spent making these films, which can attract major studios like Pixar and Sony .
Thomas Leavitt, BYU Animation Student, Director, "Turtles": "In about a week i think i would put around 50 or 60 hours during the most intense part of the project also working a normal job on the side and trying to pass my classes"
R. Brent Adams, Co-Chair, BYU Animation Program: "As soon as the word gets out that we have won these... The official word... We will get phone calls from the studios. They will be asking for these students and I'll say well.. We can give you the next generation of students but the ones you're looking for are already hired."
Some of the students involved in "Noggin" are already at work. The director is already doing prep work for the next installment of the "Spiderman" movies.
