Brooke Walker ReportingThree years ago tomorrow U.S. troops invaded Iraq. In light of that anniversary, anti-war protests happened all over the world, including right here in Utah.

March 19, 2003 was a day of mixed reaction and mixed support. Today brought a similar response.

This was the scene in Salt Lake nearly three years ago. Protestors marched their message to the state capitol, in what was Utah's largest political rally since the 1970's.

Today, a similar set-up. Many protestors returned, and gathered at Pioneer Park.

Jillian Hatch/ Protestor: "We're hoping it's not going to be three more years before we are here again."

There were signs, shouting. Even an organized cheerleading squad spoke out.

Nancy Wilmot/ Protestor: "It is such a mess there and things are just getting worse. So I have to take a stand."

Despite the desire to pull out, several protestors said they recognize a need to stabilize Iraq and, in quote, clean up a mess we've created.

Shannon Welch/ Protestor: "We have to have a set of clearly defined goals that we can achieve and then we can leave."

It was a different tune at West Jordan City Park. There, a program focused on the soldiers. Today was "Thank a Soldier Day." A number of political speakers did just that.

Peter Corroon/ Mayor of Salt Lake County: "Thank you soldiers, those who are with us and those who are protecting our values and freedoms overseas, as well."

Governor Huntsman issued a thank you to the families.

Gov. Huntsman: "In every case, when I call the mom and dad of a soldier we've lost, I hear the same thing." "Our son died doing what he believed was right for his country."

At both events, one synonymous message was heard-- "God bless America."

Demonstrations also took place in Australia, Europe and Asia.
