SAN FRANCISCO — The California Golden Bears rolled the Utah Utes 34-10 in AT&T Park Saturday, leaving the Utes 0-4 in Pac-12 games. At the end of the first quarter the game was scoreless, but Utah offense looked like it was going to struggle. Tyler Palmer @Tylernumber21, tweeted, "This Ute offense is almost unwatchable, give the ball to (Utah QB Jon) Hays and let the defense win the game for you." Cal got on the scoreboard first at the beginning of the second quarter. @UteNationNet tweeted, "Cal offense with 104 total yards of offense so far. Utah offense with 13 total yards." Bubba Brown, @BubbaBrown8 tweeted, "#Bears' 7-0 lead feels like twice that with the #Utah offense. Not exactly the 2004 #Utes." Utah received the ball after the Cal touchdown, and then gave the ball right back on a fumble. Josh Furlong @JFurKSL tweeted, "Wow...what happened to ball protection? #Utes fumble the ball, giving Cal great field position." Cal converted the fumble into a field goal, giving the Bears' a 10-0 lead. Cal soon got another field goal giving it a 13-0 lead with two minutes to go in the half. Robert Jackson @rojackKSL, tweeted, "Bears go up 13-0 with a Giorgio Tavecchio field goal. Bears almost with more points than Utah has yards" To make things even harder on the Utes' Hayes threw an interception on the next drive. Cal capitalized on the turnover by scoring a touchdown. David James @DavidDJJames tweeted, "And that's the ball game. Cal scores, now leading 20-0 . #Utes will be 3-4 playing Oregon St in a must-win game for bowl hopes next week" At the end of the half the Utes' trailed 20-0 Bubba Brown, @BubbaBrown8 tweeted "#Utes offense in AT&T Park is performing about like the Giants offense did this season. Which is not a good thing for #Utah." The Bears were the first to get on the board in the second half as well. Cal went on an 82-yard drive to go up 27-0. The Utes then reached into their bag of tricks by putting in Griff Robles at quarterback, then on fourth down they faked a punt and picked up a first down. Patrick Kinahan @DJPKKFAN tweeted, "The Utes get a first down, a fake punt off a pass from punter (Sean) Sellwood. Who knew Star Lotuleilei would be Utah's leading receiver today" The Utes' avoided the shut out and salvaging some pride as Coleman Peterson kicked a field goal making the score 34-3 Derek Payne @dpaysports tweeted, "Well, Hays stays in and leads Utah to a field goal. At least the Utes scored" As the Cal points got pilled up the Ute tweets slowed down.
