SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The state Board of Education's two-day meeting in St. George is costing taxpayers nearly $11,500.
The Deseret Morning News got the figures from the state Office of Education.
A typical board meeting in Salt Lake City costs taxpayers just under $1,400.
The board is meeting at the Holiday Inn Resort in St. George.
A state Office of Education spokesman says the board meets outside Salt Lake City once or twice a year to give other Utah residents a chance to attend the meetings.
Board Chairman Kim Burningham says it's money well spent and good for board members and people in other parts of the state.
The $11,500 St. George costs don't include travel expenses for staff who have to attend the meeting.
