SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- An inmate charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a Utah Corrections officer will have a two-day preliminary hearing, starting February 20th.

28-year-old Curtis Michael Allgier is accused of shooting and killing Officer Stephen Anderson during an escape from University Hospital in June.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported on its Web site that 3rd District Judge Deno Himonas set the February hearing date today.

Anderson had taken Allgier to the hospital from the Utah State Prison for an MRI. Anderson was shot twice with his own gun. Allgier was captured 45 minutes later at a fast-food restaurant in Salt Lake City.

Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty for Allgier, who is charged with seven other felonies.
