Marc Giauque, KSL Newsradio A polygamous church is trying to expand in Bluffdale and is asking the city to let them create a campus.
The Apostolic United Brethren already has a church, a school and some housing on 31 acres near Camp Williams. About 200 students can go to school there.
Brooks Baker, who was asked to represent the church for the city, says it's simply seeking permits for possible future expansion. "So we just drew some buildings on there that we may build in the future, don't know that we will build all of them, I mean, maybe not in my lifetime," he said.
Those buildings would include two dozen housing units for teachers or other staff at the school.
Questions at Bluffdale's City Council meeting centered not around polygamy, but about zoning and who might live there.
