SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake man is facing charges of attempted child kidnapping for trying to take a 10-year-old girl before being scared away by children with rocks.

The girl was walking with her sister and cousin near 7478 W. Washington Road (3735 South) on Aug. 22 when Miguel Angel Jaime, 33, allegedly asked her if she wanted some candy, according to charges filed in 3rd District Court Tuesday.

The girl replied, "No, sir," but Jaime grabbed her from behind, according to the charges.

The child screamed and bit Jaime on the arm. Her younger sister and cousin threw rocks at the man until he ran away, the charges state.

Later, the 10-year-old girl described several of Jaime's tattoos to police, who used the description to put together a photo lineup. Both the girl and her cousin identified the man, according to the charges.

Jaime is facing one charge of attempted child kidnapping, a first-degree felony.
