WEST VALLEY CITY — Three people were arrested Wednesday after a fight at Granger High School. But the suspects weren't students — they're adult relatives of a teen who goes there.
West Valley police say a student and several adult relatives went to the school detective to talk about a dispute that happened last week.
"Some of those family members began to go through the school on their own free will, trying to locate those possible individuals that may have been involved," said West Valley Police Sgt. Mike Powell.
Powell says the detective asked them to stop, but the family members refused and began fighting with the detective.
"The detective did feel the need to utilize a Taser to better handle the situation," Powell said.
Family members say they were not searching for anyone in the school, but were talking with someone they knew while the detective spoke with the student. They say the detective was the aggressor and started yelling at them.
Those involved in the altercation could now face charges ranging from trespassing, to disorderly conduct, to assault on a police officer.
