PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Brigham Young honored the late Kresimir Cosic on Saturday by retiring his No. 11 jersey during a halftime ceremony of BYU's game against New Mexico.
Cosic's wife, Ljerka, wiped away tears as she came on the court with her three children during the ceremony. The family was presented with a framed Cosic jersey just after the No. 11 was unfurled from the rafters next to Danny Ainge's No. 22.
BYU guard Brock Reichner, a senior, will be the last BYU player to wear the number.
Cosic, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, died of cancer in 1995.
The 6-foot-11 center from the former Yugoslavia, averaged 11.6 rebounds for BYU from 1970-73. His 919 career rebounds are second only to Michael Smith's 922 in BYU history. Cosic also played for three Yugoslav Olympic teams, including the 1980 Olympic champions.
Ainge is the only other former Cougar to have his uniform retired.
