Lance Bandley reportingTwo suspects who may be involved in multiple car burglaries in Salt Lake City were arrested after paying too much attention to an iPod, authorities say.

Investigators say the suspects had just stolen an iPod out of a car in the avenues, but were so happy with their new possession that they didn't see who was also watching.

"The suspects were sitting in their vehicle, and were apparently quite fascinated with an iPod they had stolen. Never saw an officer come up to the car," says Detective Kevin Joiner.

Joiner says the officer was in the area on another call, but remembered hearing about a stolen black car and suspects using a flash light to check out cars. The officer apparently spotted the car and the suspects checking out what was on their new play list.

"Very much goes to show you that criminals aren't always the sharpest pencils in the box," Joiner says.

Investigators say there are over 800 car burglaries per month in Salt Lake City. They say most are because people leave items in view for criminals to see.
