Marc Giauque reportingA handful of homeowners in Morgan are hoping the worst is over. They're cleaning up today from flooding that caught a lot of people off guard.

They're using heavy equipment and plain old manual labor to move mud and soggy sandbags away from homes and roads.

People like Hans Nielsen are hoping they won't need them again.

Hans Nielsen: "This is the first time in, you know, 100 years that it's even hit my actual house."

He feels lucky.

Hans Nielsen: "The cellar's the only part that got flooded inside. So, that's the saving grace since I just spent $30, 000 remodeling inside."

Now, County officials, working to determine what happened, are blaming sudden warm temperatures, warm winds and areas of frozen ground not absorbing runoff. Some homeowners think drainages have also been altered by new development.
