Utah State's women soccer team concludes a two-match road trip against Northern Colorado on Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Bears will be the third Big Sky Conference that Utah State has played this season. So far this year, USU is 2-0 with wins against the Big Sky's Weber State and Portland State. Utah State is 2-0 against Northern Colorado. The last time the two teams met was in 2008, when the Aggies defeated the Bears 3-0 in Logan. Their first meeting was in 2003, when Utah State defeated Northern Colorado 2-0 in Boise, Idaho.
Despite taking only two shots the entire match, Utah State was able to earn its first ever win against Colorado College, 2-1, on Friday. USU is now 1-0-1 against the Tigers.
With the win, the Aggies improved to 3-0-0 this season and are seeking their first 4-0-0 start in program history. This is the second time since 2009 that USU has started the season 3-0-0. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 0-3-0.
Senior forward Shantel Flanary is tied for first in the Western Athletic Conference in points with seven. She is tied with Fresno State's Callie Hancock. Flanary has scored a goal in all three of USU's matches this season.
Following the match against Northern Colorado, USU returns home to take on Utah on Friday, Sept. 2, at 4 p.m. The Utah Youth Soccer Association will be holding a clinic prior to the match, and both teams will sign autographs afterward.
